Buying the House

We first viewed the property in August 2020 after having found it on Rightmove (after accepting Merilynn’s proposal to up our budget). We wanted too many things from our initial much lower budget and realised it had to go up.

On our first viewing we liked how big it was downstairs, but thought perhaps the upstairs was a bit small. The main bedroom has huge built in wardrobes (with horrible fake marble coloured veneers) which made it feel claustrophobic. However after viewing some other places we came back to this one.

We had a second viewing where we viewed the outhouse and realised it was HUGE, and in the end the pros outweighed the cons. We decided to put in an offer in the day before Ben’s dad’s birthday. We ended up negotiating with the owners as we drove to Pinvin, and they accepted while we were on the road.

It was then the normal lengthy process (plus even more because of COVID) of lawyers and deeds and banks and surveyors and money. Eventually on December the 18th we got the keys, and it was done (you know, apart from the actual moving part).
