The Outhouse/Workshop Roof

Once again we find ourselves writing about something that happened months ago. In fact, this started last year.

We contracted someone to replace the roof, and they begun to remove it, but stopped as the fence along the top of the back wall was in the way.

We also found at this point that there was a lot more rot than was originally anticipated. We had to hire someone else to remove the fence.

Fence removed

This was when things got really complicated. The person we hired to do this informed us that the tiles we had been quoted for were in fact not appropriate for the pitch of roof we had!

After some investigation of our own, we decided to not continue with the people who had begun stripping the roof. This came with some…issues, but after a number of months and a small claims application we were able to resolve it and get our funds back.

We then hired the contractor that removed the fence to build us a new roof, which went significantly better and was complete in a week!

Now that we had a nice new EPDM roof, the inside needed to fully dry out after being exposed to the elements all winter. We also had a vast amount of mess to clean up…

So a month or two later, in April, we hired a skip!

Much clearer. We left most of the wood out and moved it into the outhouse to dry out, as we intended to use it for some outdoor projects.
