Clearing the Outhouse (and mattress)

A portion of the mess

Our mess clearing coincided with the clearing of the rest of the mess from moving. The outhouse was totally full of rubbish, parts of a bed, piles of bits of wardrobe, all sorts.

We were a little despairing, so we ended up booking a waste collection company for the majority of it, and a council collection for the horrible old washing machine, and Lyn’s bed.

Now, part of the instructions we had from the council was that the items could not be wet. And of course, it had rained (and continued to on the day) for about two weeks straight. So we had to get….creative.

We got the whole lot of the first picture in the post hauled away by the waste company. Then of what was left Michael took some to the tip for us (he was going anyway), and we have one or two bags left, but it’s mostly clear!

The mattress was especially a relief, as it lived in our kitchen for weeks before this. Trying to work around it while the heating engineers were here was…not fun. Gone now! We also had a nice chat with the man from the refuse company.
